Ive have 2 Lacie Porsche drives and they both seem great. One 80gb and one 250gb. If you are only planning to use the external for backup storage then i think the porsche would be perfect cause there is no fan. but if you plan on using the external for extensive rendering and etc. then the D2 would be better.

This is exciting because it adds so many amazing new major features.;)
I think I'll wait a while.
EDIT: never mind my sarcasm.......I see that BGR stated that this update improves battery life. I'm all over it now.:p

Hi guys!
I'm considering buying either a MBA or a MBP 13'' in the future, and one of the toughest tasks I'd like to do with it would be running GarageBand or Logic Pro. Mainly, I'd be composing Jazz pieces (Piano, Bass, Percussion, Sax and Guitars, in any number of combinations), some solo piano pieces, and maybe some Game-music.
I'd like to know if any of you has experience with the MBA 13'', and can tell me if it is powerful enough for this kind of task. While I would like the portability, I want my laptop to be my sole computer. I know the MBA can run all the other tasks I intend it to alright (Web Browsing, Video-watching, Chatting, Photoshop, PS2 and Nintendo DS Emulation). Music-creating is the only one still holding me back. ;)
Cheers!

Hi,
I have two internet connections here, one via GBit-Ethernet to my Mac Mini and a slower one connected to my WiFi router. I just bought a wireless printer, thus I need to connect the Mini to the WiFi to print.
I think this is not explicitly specified, but which connection will be used to route to the internet? It would be unfortunate to use the WiFi, as it's about 5 times slower.
Can I set the wired connection to be default for all connections, and route only the traffic that really has to go into the WiFi? All that comes to mind at the moment is removing the gateway/router address.
Better ideas?

Hi,
I'm trying to install 10.3 on an old Tangerine G3 333 iMac. I've upgraded the RAM and the OS9 that was already instlalled was running fine. I then swapped out the HD booted off of the 10.3 install CD, erased HD and partitioned it to 7GB/33GB.
So far so good. I start the install and everything seems to be going just fine, but it never ask for the 2nd install CD. It goes through disk optimization and everything while still on the 1st CD. Then it reboots itself, but fails to find the OS on the HD and ends up wanting to install again.
I've done this 4 or 5 times now and can't figure out what is happening. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

SO, are people lining up because the APPLE store is the only place to get an unlocked phone?
Anyone going to SOUTHGATE? Why not go in 1 hour or so after store opening to avoid all the crowds?

Well, I'm now running a 6040, so not exactly stellar points wise, but better than the 6701:
TPF: 15 min 43 s
PPD: 7445
This is really just an experiment for the mpb - Once I decide on which SSD to get it will become my main home machine.
What is slightly concerning is that the CPU is at 85 C, but the heatsink temperatures are at 45 and 46 C. That really does suggest that the thermal paste isn't doing it's job of letting the heat move to the heatsink.
I'm trying to resist the urge to redo it with some AS5 to see if I can drop the CPU temp, but for normal (non folding!) use I can't see it being a problem.
hmm. do we have any numbers for other machines folding the same units? i would like to see how it stacks up to an i7 920 at stock speeds.

Hi guys, wanted to see what people's thoughts are on the iPad 2 Launch in Solihull and if anyone had any news or info.
Far as I'm concerned I'll be there, from previous launches people turned up and queued around 5.30/6 in the morning, from info I got from Touchwood security, on 25th they will be opening the Poplar Entrance (near John Lewis) before any other door due to the problems with too many open at the same time, which in turn caused too much chaos at previous launches.car park queuers will be led to the back of the main entrance line to keep order so personally would be just easier to walk round to secure your space and avoid disappointment.
As normal touchwood don't tend to give much away so I was lucky to get any info at all but it sounded fairly well thoughtout to stop any apple madness happening.
If your going, good luck and share any info as I have and we can all hopefully enjoy a nice new iPad 2 come Friday.

Think what you want people. But if Sony wins; it truly means you don't own any of the consoles you buy.
I hope he loses. Damnit, his hacking of the PS3 has lead to making MW2 effing unbearable online now due to all the hackers exploiting his hardware hack

This may have been covered before but does anybody have any cleaning tips for the Macbook Air (Latest Version) i.e. The screen, the keyboard, touchpad and outer unibody casing, I'm just a little hesitant to use any old cleaning products.

Hey I'm looking into buying a preferably new Macbook or Macbook Pro. I need one soon as I'm moving out for my freshman year of college. The things I'm mainly concerned about is 500+GB, 4GB RAM, and 2.4+Ghz. I was wondering what might be some good places to begin looking for the right laptop.
Maybe something like this (http://www.buy.com/prod/13-3-macbook-intel-core-2-duo-2-4ghz-4gb-ram-500gb-hard-drive-nvidia/q/sellerid/31064376/loc/101/217650314.html)?
Or this (http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/macbook_pro?mco=MTM3NDc0NDI)? (2nd option, for $1,499.00)
Also how important is the Processor? What should I look for? Currently I have a Intel Core 2 Duo, but I know theres new ones such as Quad, i5, i7, etc.

I'd say, get the iPad 2. Since I got mine, the only thing I've used my iPhone for is to make calls. I'll definitely be switching to the cheaper AT&T data plan for my phone. My lap top is now permanently anchored to my desk. When the time comes it will be replaced with an iMac.

To me, MacBook Air sounds like a Nike lawsuit waiting to happen.
That alone suggests to me its a strong possibility

Did I read yours right? You ordered it Tuesday? do you mean the 23rd or 16th?
Also what are your specs?
I ordered mine this past Saturday and I'm so excitied, I have been waiting four weeks for a Dell and cancelled the order once I used the new ALbooks at the local store. You can't beat the edu discount
